Who Is D.E.S.T.I.N.E.D. to Succeed? YOU ARE!!!
Our philosophy is that young people are D.E.S.T.I.N.E.D. to Succeed. We use the acronym to emphasize our vision, Desiring Every Student to Increase Necessary Educational Development.
D.E.S.T.I.N.E.D. to Succeed (D2S), Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) youth empowerment organization for the 21st Century Scholar. D2S has been serving the community since 2012. The mission of the organization is to enrich the lives of young people and families through affordable, creative, quality program opportunities. We prioritize serving low to moderate income persons, as this population most frequently faces barriers to education, employment and leadership advancement.
Through our four Pillars of Excellence: Career Exploration, College Preparation, Leadership Development, and Life Skills, we provide a lens by which participants are addressing their ability to achieve lifelong success.
At inception, D2S served primarily as a parent advocacy and resource group which provided support to residents navigating the school system in search of assistance for their child’s educational prosperity.
· In September 2012, D2S broadened its service capacity to incorporate innovative programming for youth in Grades 5-8.
· In July 2013, D2S launched Biz-E-Kid$, an entrepreneurial program which focuses on business development and planning.
· In July 2016, D2S launched the four Pillars of Excellence: Career Exploration, College Preparation, Leadership Development, and Life Skills for participants in Grades 7-12.
· In September 2016, Gender-specific programming is now offered for girls and boys in grades 6-12.
· In July 2018, D2S uncovered an opportunity to promote an inter-generational approach to our programming. Targeted outreach to engaging D2S’ girls group participants and their female adult influencers was adopted as a strategy.
